David J. Becht is a partner at Adams Nye, and has over two decades of experience as a trial lawyer. He specializes in representing employees in employment-related lawsuits.

Mr. Becht has advised clients in cases dealing with everything from wrongful termination to sexual harassment, to employment discrimination of all kinds.

Mr. Becht has successfully represented:

  • Plaintiffs alleging discrimination based on race, disability, national origin, age and sex.
  • Both male and female victims of sexual harassment.
  • Plaintiffs who were terminated to avoid payment of owed sales commissions and other compensation.
  • "Whistle-blowers" - former employees terminated because they would not conceal workplace wrongdoing, including violations of antitrust laws, Labor Code violations, and fraudulent activities, among others.
  • Plaintiffs who were fraudulently induced to accept employment - promised salaries, benefits, working conditions or promotions that never materialized.

Most recently, Mr. Becht was co-lead counsel in a racial discrimination lawsuit against a major Bay Area software company that resulted in a $1.8 million verdict for his client.

While a majority of Mr. Becht's cases have been in the Bay Area, he has also been asked to represent employees from Redding, Monterey and Los Angeles. More broadly, clients from Tennessee, Massachusetts, Colorado, Arizona and the Dominican Republic have sought his representation as well.

A graduate of Hastings College of the Law in 1982 (magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, The Thurston Society), Mr. Becht received his B.A in Political Science from the University of California, Davis, in 1975. He lives in San Carlos, California, with his daughter and son.
